Mentor, inspiration, and friend Anuradha Mathur passes away

We at Inhabited Sea mourn the untimely passing of Anuradha Mathur on 26th February 2022, in Philadelphia.

Anuradha Mathur was Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. Together with her partner, Dilip da Cunha, Anu’s paradigm shifting work insisted on reimagining our worlds with water.  Anuradha and Dilip’s work showed us the radical potential of imagining worlds beyond binaries of land and water, to understand cities not as islands but estuaries, and to notice how lives and terrains are composed with varying gradients of wetness.

As a project lead for Inhabited Sea these past three years, her generosity, sharp insight and capacious vision joined us together in projects of collective flourishing in ways that we could not have ever imagined.  While she will be sorely missed by us all, her infectious and determined spirit will continue to inspire us for years to come.
